Re: Nominations for SEO players of the week for week 1
Nothing compares to what Roback did last night in a game that went after 11:00p.m.

I have to go with Brandon Schankweiler too. Talk about pressure. He didn't get thrown to the wolves or the lions, he got thrown to the Ironton Fighting Tigers...and the Tigers were winning. After a couple of series where Wheelersburg went backwards, he and his teammates put together what would be the game winning drive. He even said on the news that he expected to only be cheering his team on from the sidelines.

i have to agree newburgfan. actually both burg qb's did amazing jobs.
and from the ironton side, i think tony murphy and geoff white had great games on defense.

Hard to argue against Roback with those stats.

There are several good candidates listed on here. On most weeks what the Schankweiler kid did from Wheelersburg would be good enough to win this award -- coming in and leading his team to the victory in the waning moments over Ironton.
However, I don't think anybody can compare to what Roback of Waverly did on Friday night -- very impressive to say the least. He also led his team to a last second win over Piketon but also did a ton of other things during the course of the game.

When you guys put a name up put there statsup also. I just looked at the news paper and Roback gets my vote so far.
Roback completed 28 of 48 passes for 417 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. He rushed for over 100 yards, and returned a punt 90 yards for a TD. Plus over 10 Tackles

Roback without question. If a player with those kind of stats doesn't get due credit why bother with player of the week honors.

GAHSFan Boggs did not play that great to be mentioned for player of the week. And that was just against Wellston. They have improved but they arent a team like Lancaster, Piketon or Ironton the other teams faced.
A lot great performances in week 1 but I think we all have to agree on one person, it has to be Roback. around 500 total yards, and leads his team to come back that many points that late in the game is amazing! Deserves it not only for his stats but his leadership also!

Patrick Angle, Logan
15 rushes, 119 yards
10 for 21 passing for 95 yards and 3 touchdowns
Plus several big stops on defense as well.
Over 200 yards of total offense that gave Logan their first win over Lancaster in 63 years.
I'll second that motion!
I'll 3rd that.

Re: Nominations for SEO players of the week for week 1
Derek Roback's stats in his first start at QB:
605 all-purpose yards, 8 TDs
Passing
27-47 for 422 yards
6 TDs
0 INTs
3 two-point conversions
Rushing
98 yards
1 TD
Special Teams
85 yard punt return for TD w/ under 1 minute left in game
Defense
17 tackles
Waverly won 54-53.
I don't really see how there's a debate.
