Wk 2 (1-0) Nelsonville York @ (0-1) Piketon
Re: Wk 2 (1-0) Nelsonville York @ (0-1) Piketon
I am pulling for the Buckeyes after a great week one win. But here is what Piketon had to deal with last week. Can it get any tougher than this?
Waverly junior Roback on major college recruiting radar

Waverly junior Derek Roback is quickly becoming a hot recruiting commodity
The southern part of the Buckeye State is not known as a must stop for college recruiters. However more than a few will make their way to that part of the state over the next year or two.
Waverly, Ohio, junior Derek Roback is the reason. Roback is an outstanding athlete who is receiving mail from some of the country's top college football programs.

"West Virginia and Ohio are the schools sending the most mail so far," Roback said. "But I get mail from Florida, Oregon, Penn State, Miami of Ohio, UCLA, Oklahoma, there's more."
The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Roback played both wide receiver and safety during his sophomore season. He put up some outstanding numbers.
Roback caught 47 passes for 833 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also made 36 tackles and intercepted four passes as Waverly finished with a 10-2 record.
Roback has moved to quarterback this season. He will likely be recruited as an 'athlete.'
"I really don't care what position I play (in college)," Roback said. "I just want to play."
Roback attended the Elite 11 Regional Camp at Penn State. He also went to Kentucky's senior camp as well as a camp at Miami of Ohio.
Roback says his two favorite schools at this point are West Virginia and Tennessee, but he also would definitely like to look at Ohio State.
"I would be interested in Ohio State," Roback said. "I've been up there hundreds of times. There are some parts of the campus I really like. I was going to go to their (football) camp, but I had a commitment."
In addition to football, Roback was also a varsity starter on the Waverly basketball and baseball teams his sophomore year. He has a 4.0 GPA.

Where in the world are you people getting that Piketon is saying they are going to blow NY out on this thread? Dilligaf, seop123 are not from Piketon that I know of. Bengalsfan76 is just funning around look at the smiley. Everyone I have talked to in the Village has nothing but respect for the NY program. Dont be like the Waverly fans and act like Piketon is talking crap and boasting of being the big time favorites. On the Waverly thread you would have thought they walked on water by being so humble to even be in that game! lol
I predicted an 8 point win for the Streaks BTW.

Yes, it is at the high school. It is behind the old high school facility on West Street. If you take the road back to the new school, there is plenty of parking near the field.

Piketon is D IV 210+ boys. Our district is one of the largest area wise, the Village only has 2000+ residents, but we cover such a big area that we are D IV

I refuse to kiss any players booty as that would be illegal and really doesn't spark my interest.

I'm just having a little fun. I have the utmost respect for Nelsonville York Program and coaching staff. You can not talk about SE Ohio football and not mention NY

I really hope I'm wrong last week in saying that the Waverly game was a "make or break" season game for the Streaks.
Hopefully they will be able to bounce back. They definately have the athletes to go places they just have to get their heads focused on putting teams away when they have the chance.
The Heart of a true champion is how the handle adversity. If the Piketon boys can believe in themselves and realize that its up to them to become champions than it will happen.

Good luck to Our Ohio TVC Brothers. It seems like when you all are counted out before a game, it makes you play a little more harder. I am putting my money on the Bucks. Please tell the young man that you lost for the season, to keep his chin up, it will get better. It's sad it had to happen in his senior year. I know what he is going thru, it happened to my oldest son. Play hard and I hope no one from either team gets hurt.
