If you can prove to me that the two boys for Chili that shot lights out can do the same thing in 8 of the next 10 games I will believe that Chili is the better overall team. The reason for the hype is that we are two very evenly matched teams. Both teams have great coaching year after year. Both teams have players that can step up and play. So as far as Im concerned We talked about seeing a good game. That we did. Warren and Chili both have good teams. Good enough to be in the top half of the SEOAL year in and year out. It takes something some where to be able to do that. Chili gets the win.
No lack of intensity for the Warriors. However, Chilly made the Warriors pay early against the man-to-man defense. You cannot double or double down on London with Elliott, Bixler or Johnson on the perimeter. London had 3 assist alone in the 1st quarter. Chilly also had 1 turnover in Q1, while the Warriors had a few miscues.
Warrens staff switched to a 2-3 zone with no luck, but than found success with their 1-2-2 extended. I believe the Warriors closed out Q2 on a 14-4 run. Cavs also get sloppy with 5 turnovers in Q2.
3rd qtr was tight, but French took over the game and got the score tied bt end of the qtr. All along, most of Warrens damage came from outside the paint. Actual points in the paint were 32-16. That despite rebounds being about even. Cavs hit cutters and drove the ball tO the hoop. Cavs had 17 assists on the night which is big for them.
4th quarter was gut check and Cavs defense finally "slowed" down French. Warren held to 10 points including Hasties 25' 3 ball. Cavs play well with 2 turnovers and London scores 7 of his 9 points on the night. Jones and Bixler both knocked down wide open 3 balls and Cavs seemed to get to loose balls. Cavs shot 5-10 in the qtr, including, 2-3 on 3 balls. Warren had 6 of their 15 turnovers in the quarter and shot 4-10 from the field including, 2-6 from 3 ball land.
In summary Cavs win and were gritty in doing so.
GO CAVS!
