So, based on another post, Athens began playing Wellston in the 1920's. Does anyone know the overall records won/loss between the two schools? How many times they've played? Was Wellston in the SEOL for a period of tilme? When?

Wellston was a Charter Member of the SEOAL. The SEOAL was formed at Wellston in 1925 with:

1. Wellston Golden Rockets (1925-1981)
2. Jackson Ironmen (1925-)
3. Portsmouth Trojans (1925-1928 / 2006-)
4. Ironton Fighting Tigers (1925-1930 / 1968-1984 / 2006-)
5. Gallipolis-Gallia Academy (1925-)
6. Athens Bulldogs 1925-1928 / 1931-2008)
7. Nelsonville Greyhounds (1925-1967)
8. Logan Chieftians (1925-)

Wellston:
Years In The SEOAL League - 1925-1981
Overall Record - 140-223-20
SEOAL Outright Championships -5 (1928, 1936, 1937, 1951, 1957)
SEOAL Co-Championships - 1 with Logan (1958)

Wellston began play in the TVC in the fall of 1981. The Golden Rockets won back-to-back-footbal-titles in 2001 and 2002 in the Tri Valley Conference.

Sounds like a bet old friend. I hope the game lives up to expectations for both teams. It is one of those over the hump games for both teams. If the game is close, than obviously the winner will be better off, but it keeps hope alive for the loser as well.
