Are you saying Chillicothe-Huntington has a good basketball team?

I would say Huntington has a good basketball team they do what they do well, they have good size the Gragg boy is a load inside with a couple of 6'4" boys beside him in the post, decent quards they keep the tempo slow, they can play with most teams in the area, they lost at wellston in ot which i thought was a bad loss and lost a close game at Valley which Valley is gaining steam and can play with anyone. So yeah I would say they are good, not great but good. i would say they will end up 16-4 17-3 something like that.

Huntington is a good basketball team. They have a really good post player in Gragg averaging 20 ppg and they have a lot of nice kids around him. They are getting ready to face some tough road games that will tell us more, but them losing at Wellston and at Valley are not terrible losses.

Wellston has lost to a mediocre Athens and a mediocre Vinton County which puts them 2-2 in the TVC, Vinton is undefeated in the league and have lost to 3 svc schools i believe. Athens is like 5-6 and pretty much handled Wellston so again i say imo thats a bad loss.

I can't argue with any of your points, because they are all good ones; however, I do think there are some factors in all this. I have said on the website, the podcast, and just in discussion in general that I think the SVC has several "good" teams. I think Huntington is trying to become a "great" team, but they are now going to have to win on the road to become that.

As for the TVC, Athens has had a tough injury, Wellston has been without a home gym (and playing against Huntington in the middle school gym was a unique atmosphere), and VC - even though they have graduated over 10 seniors combined in the last two years - they are still a program that has won the TVC a bunch of times in recent years and have a nice tradition working for them.

I too felt the Valley loss was an OK loss, but keep in mind that ZT beat Valley earlier in the year. I have had people say that ZT win came at home, but keep in mind PV beat ZT as did SE. Again, great discussion...it will be interesting to see how Huntington handles the road over the next five or six league games.

Keep in mind that Valley played a regional final on the gridiron and the following Friday they lost to ZT in double overtime . And Huntington is a very talented team with Gragg almost impossible to stop !

Gragg is ridiculous around the bucket. He can be going against somebody with great strength and size as well and he's going to get his shot off and he's going to score. His touch is outstanding.

We'll see how they do on the road in the SVC, two tough places to win on the next 2 Fridays, Southeastern and Piketon. Should be good ball games.

Actually, Valley played ZT on the Saturday of the week following the Regional Final football game, because they played Eastern (Pike) on Friday. So, they lost at ZT in the second of back-to-back road games to open the season. Along the way, they had less than a handful of practices (I think the actual number was 3). Of the 8 kids in Valley's main rotation, 7 of them were starters/contributors on the football team and were not present for ANY basketball of any sort prior to the opening week of games. Did ZT defeat Valley hands down that night, yes, they did. However, the Valley team that took the floor that night is not at all the same as the current Valley team with a full 5+ weeks of basketball under their belts. The Huntsmen loss at Valley was certainly a quality loss (for those who believe in quality losses).

I think Huntington is certainly a good team and have to be considered one of the favorites to win the SVC at this point in the season.

Vinton County looks awesome at times and can play with any of the teams I have seen so far in SE Ohio. They are just very inconsistent. They have some time to work on that, but tourney time will be here soon. Huntington is a very solid team and plays good D. Looking forward to some good hoops here in SE Ohio over the next couple of months.

My view of the svc is 3 teams at the top which to this point none have beaten the other on the road, Huntington has yet to travel to unioto or piketon but will over the next week and that will decide the title, i thought maybe Westfall with their size would come into the picture but hasnt happened yet, Zt gets beat by PV still trying to figure that out didnt think PV would beat anyone, Southeastern is solid but a step down from the top 3, Adena needs to get ready for football for next yr.
Huntington i already gave my line on them good but beatable and look for them to have at least 1 maybe 2 losses in the conferance.
Unioto without Murray could be the team to get beat by one of the other teams, dont know how long he will be out.
Piketon not playing as well now as they did early, the kids who were playing well then seem to be scared to make a mistake? Need to get these kids back show confidence in them and let them play.

Anxious to see them get out of the hills of huntington (where the buckeyes would be lucky to win)!

Wellston beat Huntington because they actually played as a team the first time this season. IMO Wellston has done very well this season considering they are under a new head coach after losing theirs and the fact they play away. Against Vinton Co. They almost came back to win that game. Considering they had 22 fouls against them with VC having only 10 there was no chance they could overcome that! Athens game Wellston just simply did not come to play. IMO Wellston ends this season playing on their own home court you will see what they are capable of...wellston has Courts underneath who will score and with IMO Craig as the point who is probably the best PG around. I believe Wellston can definitely change up the rankings of the TVC Ohio by the end of the season!!
