MLB Needs a Salary Cap!
With the Yankees just signing C.C. Sabathia and maybe getting AJ Burnnet it made me stop and look on how much money the Yankees are spending. C.C. just got the biggest ever contract for a pitcher on top of the players the Yankees are allready paying, Alex Rodriquez and Jete, now they're going to sing AJ!

Baseball will be corrected when every one of us ignore the game. If you support the way baseball is going, be sure to go see a Reds game. That way, we will ensure that the Yankees and the Red Sox have a Washington Generals team to flummux like the Globe Trotters do. It is a travesty but I have given up on the prospect of forcing a cap on every one. Get ready because cap-less NFL is coming to you in 2010. Oh no, that means my Browns won't be able to field a competitive team!

Actually, I do have a suggestion. Nationalize all the teams, strip the city/state/region moniker from in front of the team name and have them just travel randomly to all cities in the course of the season. Root for a team and its players much like a NASCAR team. How about the Yankees becomming the Rainbow Warriors; then we can really hate them.

Yankees haven't won a world series since their payroll went
over 100 million.
Let them spend all the money they want, they still can't
buy a ring.
After 4 years in New York CC will be yet another overpaid,
under producing player that the Yankees have to look to trade
or eat a valuable contract.
over 100 million.

What needs to happen for baseball is what happend in hockey.Lock the players out until they agree to a cap.It will cost us a season of MLB but the game will be better for it in the long run. This crap has to end! There are salaries for one player that adds up to entire team payrolls in some instances. That's just wrong....

They're over paid yes, but keep in mind, the player will
only see 1/2 of his contracts worth if he stays the entire length.
After taxes and agents fees, Sabathia's 160 millions over 7 years,
will be 80 million over 7 years.
Still a ton of money, but less than 1% of the Yankees total net worth and
income, especially if he brings them a title.
If you were the piece that put your company over the top, you'd likely
want to be paid more than 1% of their worth you brought them.

Just the Yankee management trying to buy a title because they have no farm system to depend on.

Meanwhile teams like the Marlins and Devil Rays are getting to and in some cases winning the
series rings with their developed farm system.
And the Reds try to work farm systems but they can't scout for crap and won't
spend money, unless it's on old washed up, or over rated can't play defense players.

Baseball needs a cap. It was out of hand a while back . Teams like cleveland and cinci will not be able to keep up. its happening now. People sighing 30 mill contracts , thats crazy. Pay them how they play , Thats what i say for baseball and nfl.

Re: MLB Needs a Salary Cap!
I agree that MLB needs a salary cap. It's starting to get ridiculous how much these players are getting paid. I was talking to a buddy the other day about the whole CC Sabathia deal. It got me thinking. If I was in his situation, I think I would have to choose a different team; however, Im not the one signing the $160 million contract.
I mean think about it. The Yankees have acquired some big time pitchers in the past. Between people like Kyle Farnsworth, Kevin Brown, Tim Redding, Estaban Loaiza, and others. Most of these pitchers had better careers before they reached the Bronx. The Yankees are better off trying to build up pitching. Look at what the A's did with their "Big 3" in Hudson, Mulder, and Zito during their reigns with the club. Maybe the Yankees players can't deal with the pressure that comes with the Bronx, but I still feel that he needed to go somewhere else and the Yankees to save their money.

Re: MLB Needs a Salary Cap!
That is what the Yankees do, let another team take a chance in developing talent and wait till they are near their full potential or in the prime of their careers and buy them out. Which is why a salary cap needs to be established. Without it, small market teams will always struggle. There may be a small market team that comes out and excells, but does not last long because the big money buys the players and breaks the other teams apart.
