Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season

My guess is Schankweiler at QB with Lang, Walker, Adkins at the HB and Craigmiles FB. Kemper, Stegman and Parsley at the TE, WR spots.
Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
what about a two quarter back system? when one is not QB or taking a break, let him line up at RB or WR. They should have a good line this year. Thats always the key. As your o-line and d-line go---- so does your wins and loses.

I seen Schankweiler at the track meet Saturday, man he is built like a tank and he's fast. Seems like he would make a heck of a running back. What positiond did he play last year?

have u seen b. shank in the last month? Looks like he has put on ten lbs of muscle
Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
But Brandon is not running track this year so Jordan is who he saw.
Jordan is a senior and won't be back but he was a fullback and he has bulked up more since football season. He has signed to play college ball.

Jordan is the one receiving the baton.
Brandon is a sophomore and is taller and less bulky in build. Good speed too though Jordan has a step on him being older. There were games (South Point comes to mind) where the two brothers scored every touchdown.
Last year junior Tyler Lang was starting quarterback but tore his cruciate late in the third or early in the fourth quarter of the Ironton game. Brandon stepped in and led the team for the rest of the 10-2 season. Tyler is back and his surgery and rehab went really well. He will be as much a plus on defense as offense. He was really good at pass defense and had major speed.
So the question remains who will be quarterback since we will have two starters returning. It is a good question that will be decided by the preseason next August and who is doing best at what. It is a good problem for a young coach.

Some one, told some one ,that told me [how about third hand] that Z Whitley had a chance at qback, said he could really throw the ball. Who knows, not I.
Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
whitley will see playing time but not at qb. Shank will be the qb. I would put him in the shotgun, split the backs (lang walker, craigmiles, whitley, adkins) and cause D coaches all over the county a lot of sleepless nights.

if i were woodward, there is no way that i would put schank at QB... he cant even compare to lang, lang is faster stronger more experienced and smarter at the posistion... i would put lang at QB... i feel thats how they willl get the most out of their team.

Have to agree with you on that. This team will have lots of speed. Probably one of the fastest, if not the fastest team Burg has ever had and that is on both sides of the ball.
Hopefully, coaches all over the state will have alot of sleepless nights come playoff time.
Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2009 Season
shank actually has more experience playing qb at the varsity level and I am not so sure that shank might not be a little faster, strength wise I am not sure there is that big a difference. I wouldn't judge either in the smarts deptartment, we haven't seen lang enough and shank was kind of thrown into the fire as a soph. Shank showed me a lot last yr in week 1. Most sophs would have p'd their pants having to come in, in week 1 against a team like ironton but he marched the burg down the feild in the closing minutes for the winning td. He continued to impress me as the season went on. People like to nitpick but the kid was a soph he will get better at everything. With the exception of c brown back in the early 80's I am not sure I have ever seen a soph qb play any better for the burg than shank did in 08. The team might be better off with shank at qb because it will allow the coaches to play lang at Lbacker on D. Lang is one heck of a D player and has a heck of a nose for the football. The team will be in good hands no matter who is taking the snaps.

Lang has a better arm, and he will play D no matter what he plays on O
