I think that clay is gonna come out on top on this one. Just because, yea they may have a young team but the sophmores r finally steppin up and puttin some points on the board the soph. are havin some rookie mistakes and the seniors r rlly pickin up the soph. to get over them mistakes. Clay had a really hard fought practice today there gonna be redy to go out to eastern and win it. They are pumped for this one. Eastern better not come out thinkin its gonna b a blow out b.c if they do theyre gonna get beat!!!!! The keys to winnin this game for clay is get some team chemistry goin pass the ball more instead of dribbling have a better shot selection and shut down Osborne and i think they will be fine.. Good luck to both teams...Go Panthers!!!!!!

robert estep[13-5] don monk [106-95] ARCH JUSTUS [394-169] david blevins [1-21] dick McCleese[6-35]

randy ward [57-33] aqua, what do you call success. arch was a success , randy could have been but the parents said he
was to hard on the kids and practice was too long. so they ran him off. LOOK AT THE HISTORY.

Panthers you know you dropped the ball with your coaching hire. Everyone in the "coaching circle" in our area just laughs at it--actually everyone outside does too. But good luck with him anyway. I'm sure he is a very nice guy but I've seen pee-wee coaches make better gametime adjustments. Seriously, I'm not from Eastern or Clay but be realistic. Of course clay has a shot at winning, anybody does during a game but if the Panther players do not respect their coach and doesn't put in the off season work then nobody should complain when they don't produce. As far as age goes, I believe Eastern only has one senior but I'm not sure. I do know from being in the "circle" that their coach is well respected by the community, coaches, AND his players. Good luck to both teams but I'll pick the Eagles by 15.

Couldn't agree with you more. They are the two that gets the wheel moving and if they aren't scoring then Clay is going to struggle.

Not very well at all. Have you watched any of the games this year?
There inbounds play consist of handing the ball to the out of bounds person and then everyone else just run around to get open. No screens or stacks to try and free guys up.
I heard someone else mention the fact that Coach T knows his basketball. Well if that is the case, when he is going to start using that knowledge on the court with the boys. Like someone said above he doesn't seem to make any adjustments for certain situations. The big one was the other night when SV's best player picked up his 3rd foul with 4:00 left int he 3rd. qtr. He made no adjustments to attack his side of the zone to try to pick up his 4th foul. Would have changed the outcome of that game had he picked up that 4th foul. He was really all that SV had and he hurt Clay down the stretch. I don't know, I've watched a few games the last 2 years and I just don't see it out of him. This years team has a decent mixture of size (Graham needs to get more touches in the paint) and decent guard play (Bussler, Valentine and Mershon.) All three are good penetrators but the last few games I've watched they have seemed to gone away from that and want to chuck up three's. Mershon finally started taking the ball to the hole the other night agaisnt SV and was having goo success with it.

Re: Clay @ Eastern 1/23
I really can not understand all of the chatter about Clay this season. They are a young team from what I read on here. On one thread, it said that you start 4 soph's. You can't expect to win the league or win a bunch of games with that much youth.
Eastern went through it last season. The parents and fans must be realistic.
Support the kids. Support the coach in season (let the AD evaluate if he is doing a good enough job for the hand he was dealt). The bottom line is just because the "fans" want to win now....its not very likely with this team this season. Again, not saying they won't upset someone along the way (they already did SV)!
As for the game, the Eagles getting scare from New Boston on Tuesday will have them focused and ready for Clay and hopefully all of their players will be healthy and able to play...if so, then I don't smell an upset tonight. Eastern wins by 10+

[quote="ignert1"]I am sure Coach T knows the game, I think it is the style of ball that they try to play. He coached at the College level, where the playrs were recruited for the style of ball you want to run. Might even work at a big HS, but it hasn't worked so well here so far.
I TOLD THE COACH THAT LAST YEAR. JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE .
LAST YEAR KIDS LOOKED LOST ON DEFENCE.
