D Owens , My loyalty is with the Wellston football program ,the kids and the school to which I graduated. I said that because when that league was formed in Wellston Ohio in 1925 . I would hate to see it be disbanded even though in reality the Rockets just couldnt compete anymore and still couldnt . We played Jackson (41-14) and Gallia (41-21) last season . Although The games were both close at the half early 3rd qrt ,(14-7 and 28-14) The Rockets just didnt have the depth to keep up late in those games.
I made those comments just out of respect to the SEOAL. Besides Wellston would never go back , unless a population surge would happen in our community. Wellston will most likly drop out of Div- 4 this season to Div - 5 so we are losing population instead of gaining.
I just got on this thread to support Jackson,Gallia and Logan because I dont see them leaving the league rightfully so.

Then Wellston should fit right in to the SOC. I think Jackson and Wellston would both make good additions to the SOC II.
Re: Is Jackson Leaving SEOAL?
If anything Wellston should move to the SVC. All the schools in that league are within about 50 miles of Wellston and I think with the exception of Westfall in football they would compete really well. If Jackson does leave the SEOAL it would be because of not being able to compete for league titles not travel. By the way boilermaker Wellston didn't lose to Jackson or Gallia because of lack of depth. It wasn't like Jackson or Gallia were plattoning their offense or defense they were playing people both ways just like Wellston. They lost because both of those teams were just better.

League titles have nothing to do with it. I believe we won the league in baseball last year. The travel alittle, but the small gates have to kill the athletic department. Money talks, everything else walks.

But, with Zanesville out and Ironton leaving, I believe winning titles in football becomes more manageable. I know Logan will be very tough the next couple of years though.

^^^^
What about Warren?
There are more sports to worry about than Football.
Most of these games are played through the week.

The SEOAL is leaving it needs to go!!! I know the history and everything but right now it is not practical put a good local league together and watch the talent who some of you think is bad get better!!
Chillicothe
Jackson
Waverly
Gallia
Portsmouth
Wheelersburg
Ironton
I think this would be a good mix, there is still some travel in there but it would be very competive in all sports!

Re: Is Jackson Leaving SEOAL?
hsfbfan,I was at both games and your right both Jackson and Gallia play most their kids both ways. With exception of their lines both offense and defense they substituted. Jackson played more kids two ways than did Gallia. Gallia had a offensive line and a defensive line .Also I noticed Gallia would get in the red zone they would send in plays and sub up to four players between plays.Which is a good thing to have ,Wellston just dosent have those kind of numbers.
You are also correct Jackson and Gallia were just better than my Rockets that is obvious, however considering the odds against my Rockets the performed well.No one like to lose and wellston tried to win both games but were just out manned in my opinion.
I dont want to make this a wellston topic so I wont argue this point any longer.
I still say Jackson , Gallia, and Logan will not NOT let the SEOAL die out PERIOD.
