North Adams vs. Hillsboro
Re: North Adams vs. Hillsboro
Peebles seems to have always tended to go the other direction, the direction of the southeast district I believe. Will play Valley, Portsmouth schools, Eastern Pike was always a big rivalry. I would like to see them go back to the SHL schools just playing each other once clearing the way for teams to get out and play a varied schedule and more competitve teams to help prepare for tournament.

I agree 100%. I also think the split divisions is a dumb idea as well. It's one league with one champion. Having a small school and a big school champion just waters down the product. A nine game league schedule would make league games more "meaningful" and would allow the Adams County schools to have the holiday tournament and get the second game against two of the other county schools.
Is Jerry Lewis still the SHL commissioner? Was it around '95 or when Georgetown went to the SBC that the split divisions happened and the number of league games exploded to 14 games or something.

I don't know the exact date that SHL went to big and little divisions but I totally agree with you. There is no need for the big and small divisions, the schools are equally competitve, give or take going through rebuilding years. It's definately a hinderance to the SHL teams going into tournament.

Re: North Adams vs. Hillsboro
I was reading another post where someone brought up the Midwest Athletic Conference which has New Knoxville, Fort Recovery, Delphos St. John's, St. Henry, Versailles, Maria Stein Marion Local, and Coldwater among others and they only play each other once. I think they have about same number (ten) of schools that the SHL has and they seem to produce a state champion every year in Boy's Basketball. So if nine or ten games is good enough for them why wouldn't it be for the SHL?
Re: North Adams vs. Hillsboro
this way gives 2 schools a chance to be league champions in every sport. they play 13 league games which leaves them with 7 non league games. some of the teams play non league games against each other for various reasons; gate receipts, rivalries, trouble finding teams to travel that far from cincinnati, dayton, or columbus areas. a lynchburg vs whiteoak non league will draw a lot more people than lynchburg or whiteoak vs a soc or svc team. boys basketball probably supports most of the other sports without football.
Re: North Adams vs. Hillsboro
What is the criteria that separates the SHL schools and puts them into their either division?
I can see the pro's and con's of both. It would be nice to see SHL school's playing some bigger, tougher competition outside of the league more often. But this would probably cause headaches for AD's to try and fill the schedule.

The Adams County Schools can only schedule 5 games outside their actual league teams; they have the 13 league games plus the 2 Holiday Tournament games, while one of them isn't league, it's still a league team.

So when L-Clay and Peebles swithched a few years back it was becuase they surpassed them in student enrollment?
