Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
I agree scrimmages don't count. Minford blew them off the line of scrimmage every play on both sides of the ball and ran at will. Same as the scrimmage at PHS.wobycat wrote:I was able to see Meigs and Minford play. And scrimmages don't count. Losing to Fairland was probably the wrong statement, but that ballgame would go either way. I may be wrong but I think this is a down year for the Falcons. It might be for the Burg as well but my opinion thinks Burg is better. I say that with no disrespect. I will be glad to come back on here and admit if I'm wrong.

If scrimmages don't count then why reference them. Let's just root for our teams and see how it plays out.

They don't count for records, they do for matchups. Why is that so hard for you to understand?wobycat wrote:If scrimmages don't count then why reference them. Let's just root for our teams and see how it plays out.
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Seriously? Yea I'll admit valley is better this season and will probably beat burg and minford this season.... But it's 1 season so don't downgrade either of this football programs bc after this season Indian fans will be back to reality n minford and burg will beat them as usualvalleyindians wrote:Does it matter neither team makes playoffs or wins the SOC..
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Now about the game.... It will come down to the trenches... It's been a rough year for the falcons but I believe they match up well with burg bc of their youth on the line... If minford can contain shears then they have a shot at winning... Should be a good one and decided by a TD either way... gotta go w my falcons.... FALCON PRIDE!!!!
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
No they don't. If that's the case then Minford should have beat Meigs. Didn't Meigs beat Fairland by 7 points? If Minford blew Fairland off the line than they should have had no problem with Meigs. Scrimmages are for coaches to look at players. Giving Seniors and experience first tries at it. Fairland may have been starting all new lineman or Minford was more prepared before scrimmage regardless I feel the Falcons would struggle against Fairland and Waverly. Again, It's an opinion with no disrespect to the Falcon program.Bleeding Red wrote:They don't count for records, they do for matchups. Minford will win this hard fought battle. As for you Valley fans, you should be worrying about (DaBurg) because you haven’t beaten them yet. :122245

Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Back to the task at hand. Minford has the tools to win this game there's not a doubt in my mind. Their problem has not been talent this year. Is talent down a little compared to the past few years? Absolutely. Is the cupboard bare? Not by a long shot. The Falcons have had problems executing when they need to plain and simple. They have had problems with confidence at times too. If the Falcons win this game it might just give them the boost they have been needing all year to be able to play to their full potential.
I think starting fast will be the key for either team. If Minford can get up on Wheelersburg early I like their chances. If they let a young team like the Pirates get rolling early they will be making things very hard on themselves.

Well I will admit Wheelersburg out right beat Valley the last two years but the officals beat Valley not minford. 2 years ago the on side kick call was a joke and last year that was a 2 point conversion but never the less Valley wont leave it in the hands of the officals this year...!!! so go on talking about how minford is going to beat wheelersburgA-Bomb wrote:Seriously? Of course it was

Funny thing: I was standing RIGHT beside Crabtree during that onside kick. After he went out on the field kicking and screaming, he walked back to the bench and said "I knew we didnt recover it, but it was worth a try".
Lest ye forget Minford was winning that game 28-0 at the half and came out asleep.
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
The onside kick wasn't bogus. Minford had the ball or at least shared possession. The 2 point conversion was a terrible call but nothing can be done about it now. If it comes down to a call this season, something has went terribly wrong for the Indians.
Back to this game. I really think this is the best matchup this week. I had to do some trading around at work to get last Friday off, so football doesn't look like its in my Friday night plans. I'm anxious to see how this one turns out because I think Minford will win the battle at the line but Burg has the best athlete on the field.

I had to get special permission from my Dr to go to this one, as I am currently in the hospital recovering from a freak injury sustained Sunday night. But, since I'm getting discharged today, I'm going to be allowed to go to the game Friday night, crutches and all. In addition to what should be a solid game on the field, it's also pee-wee night in Minford, so there should be an even better crowd.Bo_Diaz wrote:The onside kick wasn't bogus. Valley's kicker was Yates who was out with the concussion. Going for 2 was the right play.

The significant other's little one is a pee wee(er) so I'll be at the game Friday night. Get ahold of me.
Re: WEEK 8: Burg @ Minford
Yes Yates was out and he was the kicker and if he was in he would have ate minfords df alive just like in the 3rd quarter the year before when he scored 21 points on minford to almost win the game. He will get his chance this year I remember watching him on the sideline he was fully dressed pacing back and forth like a cage animal waiting to play but the docter did not release him that was the only reason minford went to the playoffs last year...!!!!
