IMO, I think it all depends on the school district and the roads in that particular area. Some schools disticts have townships that get the roads cleaned quick because of the small area of that particular township. Some townships are huge and the roads cannot be cleaned well enough to practice. The township I live in is like the first example I mentioned and the township where I work is the second example. Personally, I think it should be up to the BOE and prior practice to make that decision because each situation is different and unique.

Just because a player may have or know someone with a 4 wheel drive does not mean they should be on the roads. Also some of those 4 wheel drives are used to get people to work. There is a difference between driving on snow and driving on ice. Some school districts are spread out with conditions different throughout. Sometimes school is also canceled for high water. Which causes different problems.

One major difference that schools must think of now that they didn't years ago is liability if a player gets hurt tring to get to practice. They might also get hurt on school grounds because of the weather conditions. Some parents would enjoy having a lawyer get money for them.

Many factors need to be thought of by each school district including the incoming weather of that day. Just because one school has practice does not mean the one beside it should have practice.

Kind of like football with weights, conditioning, practices and games? ;-)

I know a group of athletes that called the coaching staff over the "break" and begged to come in to the gym. So, practice if you can. As for the no practice no play motto, all rules need to be bent in the right situation. If practice is held and a kid cant make it due to weather, no questions asked. Just like being at home sick.
