Its been pay to play at many schools for over 20 years now so to answer your question NO it wont hurt participation.

Don't know about now, but from what i heard and read Lancaster went from over a hundred boys down into the 80s when it started for them.

Lancasters used to be very high but I think they have managed to lower it. Most Columbus area schools do have a pay to play.

It will lower the number of kids---how much will be a direct correlation on how much the fee is. $20 or $30 and it will have little effect----$100 or $150 and you will see a drop. Every time you raise the bar there are less kids who can get over it. The wealth of the school district will also matter----in some schools the boosters can save the day----not so in others.
