the general is a former coach who has it out for anyone other than himself.Alexander Hitman wrote:Hey moonshine .. Who is Alex Penrod and why is General think your kidding ???
that would be a TREMENDOUS hire for your school district. although it would damper many sports programs at Gallia.Alexander Hitman wrote:I've heard that name brought up for the Alex job.

Doesn't Curry Ryan teach at Waterford? And Welsh's biggest fan (pun) just got back on the board. So very likely no joy for those two. Former head coach Al Riffey is retired. Larry Ryan, Neil Bragg, Jim Rhodes, Nate Evans, Former Head Coach Martin Santini, Don Eichinger(retired), Roy Jameson (retired), New Vice Principal Ryan Lemley have all coached football in the past. Any others on staff that have coached the I missed.

No doubt in my mind that given support and resources, you can win at Warren.
I've also made no bones about my support for Penrod to get a head coaching gig. He's a great coach at Gallipolis. The dude is a winner and has been his entire life.
Now, unless Warren is going to give support and appropriate resources, its hard to see anyone moving from outside the district to take the job. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth.

If the Warren is serious about winning Then I agree with Logan Locos, Penrod would be an excellent choice!LoganLocos wrote:No doubt in my mind that given support and resources, you can win at Warren.

To be honest, there have been problems for YEARS in Washington Co., both at Marietta and Warren. Parents, administration and the respective school boards have not been very helpful. A coach would have to be stupid to walk into these types of situations. Currently not a good job. I would not encourage Penrod to apply.

Can't say I disagree with you Palidan. Heard that there has been alot of interest, but mostly from out of state. From a online posting? Not sure And who would be willing to step in and take that kind of a hit. Hoping for the best for the kids anyway.
Re: Schob steps down at Warren local
Isn't an online posting how Trent Grider was able to interview and subsequently get the job back in the mid 2000's. Refresh my memory on how that went?

Forgot someone. Dave Schaad, retired from teaching and coaching at PHS? or South? ANd wasn't Grider the "Fun & Gun" guy. He got canned a week before Two-a-days. Santini should have turned them down when all that went down.
Re: Schob steps down at Warren local
I like Dave Schaad, he is a nice guy and did a fine job coaching the defensive line back when I played. However with all due respect, there is no way he should be considered for the head coaching position. He has had health problems in years passed above all and I question how the players would react to a hire such as that.
Young, nonsensical, a product of a winning program, and willing to implement a full scale program that begins in the junior high and runs through varsity. It's the only way to create an actual program and with an identity. I will say it before find someone who played under Dale Amyx or Layton at Jackson in the mid 90's, Brett Saunders at Gallia, or Bob Lutz at Ironton. If you want to be regarded as one of the better programs in the southeast why not model yourself after proven successful programs in the region?

that being said, I am not sure who if anyone would apply for this job.

Re: Schob steps down at Warren local
There is one positive for sure this time ! The process of hiring a coach will not be manipulated by a few bad apples !!! Most of those people have moved on or sons have graduated . Football at Warren , IMO , has not been handled correctly since they let Coach Welch go . Now that I have that off my chest , Good Luck to the new Coach and especially to the young men who will be playing next season. GO BLUE ! !
