Another mile or two closer and you would have seen the worst. That was the real deal, the set up was perfect but the timing was off. We were lucky. I've seen some bad looking sky's but nothing like I seen today. Logan was setting on the western side of that cell, as it went by us on the east. Hate to see what would have happened if went by us on the west. I'm thankful as well. Knock on wood. :)

I didn't hear of any confirmed tornadoes in Hocking yet, usually them warnings are just rotation in the skies without a funnel touchdown that sets them off, used to be it had to be a sighting, but they changed it years ago to include radar rotation, guess we'll have wait and see what the local rag has to say tomorrow

It was serious anyway you look at it. T-warnings from the NWC isn't something to take lightly. A warning is one is on the ground or one is in progress/forming. The rotation in the cell that radar indicates, one can drop out of there in seconds, that's why warnings are issued. I'm not saying one touched down but it was all there and ripe and the ball was rolling. The look and set up couldn't have gotten any better. Could have been a quick hit and miss thing or a full blown killer tornado that could have happened, the condition's was there. EF0-TO EF5, They all can be dangerous and misleading. A T-watch is condition's are favorable for development. Ole CM and crew was ordered to get all the seniors in the hall ways down there. Bolt, Set you DVR to record channel 4, 6, and 10 for 7am this morning before ya go to bed. They will have damage reports and the confirmed tornados for yesterday. LDN will probably have it later if any local people had damage.

I just watched ch.4 at 11 and they act like the only real damage was over around Cedarville, but maybe they will have more today, who knows. They show a funnel cloud down in Pike, but wasn't sure it touchdown or did any damage. The reason I wrote that about the warnings was when you said we had that warning I got to thinking about a recent article I saw in USA Today where the NWS said they were going to start being more selective in issuing tornado warnings because so many of them don't touchdown or where people can see them that they are afraid people will start ignoring them and somebody will get hurt if one does,I don't know what that means, but it don't sound too good to me.

Wow, lots of house roof's and car damage from that. Hate to get hit by one of those. I could see hail bouncing off the street and lawn here, looked to be about dime size.

Talking some severe storms this evening. Sun heating it up, but the storms will be coming from the Northwest. Probably be some vivid cloud to ground lightning, large hail and some spotty concentrated short lived straight line wind damage. :o :)

Looks like we are on the good side, nice garden rain. Hail core's and heavy rain staying over into some of the western counties. Over by Dayton, Tipp City, 2 inches of rain per hour reported. :122248

Yeah, they can cause some damage if your in the area of a micro down burst, or at the front edge of a bow echo. Seen some pictures of straight line wind damage in a wooded area. Looked like a cheeseburger bomb went off. Like a bulldozer cleared a big area out. Trees laying flat for 300 yards or so. Don't want to be under one of those when it burst's, jagged destruction, can knock a house off it's foundation easy. Have you been in a micro down burst Bolt? Said they are scary. You're house is still standing.

No but the 2012 derecho did a job on my old garage, probably a good thing, that thing needed replaced anyway  also have had plenty of straight line windstorms peel many shingles off the roof over the years and had my soffit siding ripped off a couple times by them pesky straightline winds

If that would have been a full fledged deracheek with real straight line winds, it would have blown that old shed down to mingo park in pieces right along with your house. But lucky again, you must have been on the side of the bow. Front part of the bow is the worst. Could have been cycling too. Think that was just a gust front that came through here that time. It just lifted that shed up from pounding gusts and moved it a little. That old shed was weak anyways. Those hook echos is what to watch out for, specially if the radar is showing a debris ball. Tornado on the ground tearing stuff up like a blender. Suppose to have bad storms early next week again. Will we stay on the lucky streak or not Bolt?

What is this shed you keep referring to ? I'm talking about a 20+20+15 ft wood garage that had our car, my bikes and other machinery inside thaire,it was old and rickety but a little shed will not hold all of that . I was trying to close the big sliding door that day when it rolled in and the next thing I know the whole side of the garage is up in the air where I could see all papa joes garden,it was indeed a terrifying site and thought the whole thing was going on his land. Severe storms next week huh? We'll see about that kinda early for predicting that, but I predict we might see some gusty storm fronts and another false t-warning as usual

Yep, that one car garage I'm talking about, with room for a few other things. That's what they called them little wood garages in the past. Sheds. There's no such thing as false T-storm warnings. If it's there and on radar and capable of doing damage in a county a warning goes up for the county regardless if it don't hit the area you are living inside the county. A county is a pretty big area, many city's, towns, and villages. Just because it don't hit your area/town don't mean it's false. Don't have to be wind that hurts a person, one can get struck by lightning as well etc etc. More scenarios to a storm watch/warning than one thinks. Heck, my siding got tore off with winter sustained winds of 40 with gusts of 50 one year. But straight line winds from a full fledged micro down burst/or a bow echo straight line wind were to hit all of a sudden here where I live, my house wouldn't be here.  Be picking pieces of it up a few blocks away. Same as you would up on the mountain. Them gust's of wind got up underneath your shed garage because you had the front pull in door open. Remember you showed me it afterwards. I seen it, gust's of wind did that. Imagine what a real 150 mile an hour straight line wind would have done in 10 minutes time. It would have been thrown clear down over that hill out back there, if it held together.   Heck Bolt, low grade 40 plus/50 gusting winds will tear siding off a house if they are a sustained type wind and other small property damage, keeps pounding on it. What do ya mean it's to early for prediction for storms early next week? That's only a few days away. Look at the weather map, they know it's headed this way. Will the Logan luck run out for the real McCoy storms?  I hope not but someday it's bound to happen.  Back in the 70's we had some dandy's I remember. If we get any like that and your in perfect line in your area of a violent storm cell, it will be more than a garage tilt or picking up siding.   Get the chain saws ready for numerous trees down. and a good roof company hired etc etc. If she's still standing.

Never knew they called something that big a shed, but if you say so.No such thing as a false warning? I meant tornado warnings not thunderboomers huh huh okay i'll buy that, but just to refresh what we argued last week hear's the link http://www.weather.com/safety/tornadoes ... s-20140418 now if you argue the conditons are right for one shouldn't that be a watch? I always thought a T was imminent with a warning but not now days, just a little cloud rotation will set them off with no debri ball in sight.I understand they rather be safe than sorry but you still have not explained to me how 30 percent of all confirmed tornadoes slip by without even a warning if the forecasting is soooo good now :aaaaa46 I also looked at the forecast on ch.4 for next week and it don't look that intimidating but thats why I say its too early, could change a lot between now and then, and my chainsaw is on the blink right now trench, so you and rk will have to come up and help me.

Hum you must not have read that link from the weather channel I sent in your email last week http://www.weather.com/safety/tornadoes ... s-20140418 now if you argue the conditons are right for one shouldn't that be a watch? I always thought a T was imminent with a warning but not now days, just a little cloud rotation will set them off with no debri ball in sight.I understand they rather be safe than sorry but you still have not explained to me how 30 percent of all confirmed tornadoes slip by without even a warning if the forecasting is soooo good now :aaaaa46
Nope, a watch means the atmosphere is favorable for development. A warning means one is in an area and has developed and in progress. I seen that but when they put a warning up bolt it means business. They aren't really false if ones out for a county. Example: T-STORM WARNING FOR HOCKING COUNTY. Logan didn't get hit but Haydenville did. Now, is that false because it didn't hit up there on the mountain or Logan. Haydenville is in hocking county plus many other towns and people out in the country in the county, what about them. 5 miles from here one could be getting slammed. AHHHHH we aren't going to put a warning out because logan don't seem to be in the path of this storm. It didn't hit Logan so it's false alarm   You are looking at it the wrong way what I'm trying to say. Storms can grow and get stronger and change as they move along as well. Storm can slip by but rather it be a tornado/straight line winds/sever t-storms etc etc. The warning is there for peoples safety. Even if one slipped by the mountain, that don't mean other area's in the county is getting slipped by.   Remember what I said about taking things for granted. That can be bad news as well Bolt. Garage/shed,I even heard your dad call that a shed one day up there. Don't matter to me though. Garage/ Shed/ storage barn. Who cares.
