VC has had 2 off games in a row shooting wise (@Waterford and the New Lex Game). I dont see this happening again. Combs and co. will have these guys ready to play. This team has too much talent to go 3 games in a row with poor shooting behind the arch.

You are correct! Just win and move on! SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST!
That's why you play 5! If some are not playing up to par, others pick up the slack. That's what VC did.
Great game Jake & Drew!

Vinton County was ahead before he fouled out and got the technical, so I wouldn't say that cost Waterford the game.

Gotta admit in this game the Wildcats were up. They were ready to play. Was senior night too. VC didn't bring their "A" game.
Dut had his (maybe) career game. Scored career high 30 points anyway. Saved it for last regular season game of his high school career!
I was impressed with Waterford. The big kid has some talent, but has a severe attitude problem! Last time I was there VC won like 93-33.

Sorry Andy!
You are correct he had his usual great game!
I can't believe I didn't mention his effort.
I guess I just know he will have a good game.
I think he is the reason they lost to Hunnington. :) Only because he got knocked in the noggin so hard he was bleeding and had to leave the game for several minutes. The teamed seemed out-of-sorts without his leadership.
When he came back in he looked like he had been to the dentist, and had brain surgery. He had a huge piece of gauze on the top of his gord with tape and/or guaze going around his ears under his chin, and back to the top of his head like the old toothache or headache remedy from the 3 stooges.

I like the Vikes in this one, but it will be close. I am concerned that Combs doesn't have many quality wins. Sure he wins a lot, but who has he really beat that's been worth a darn.

SWT, I guess nobody.

I also guess that depends on your definition of "worth a darn." I am sure that the 16 teams we had played thought they were "worth a darn."

Boy, I usually stay out of the VC stuff, but I've got to interject something after this exchange. TVC Ohio is a quality league, and VC mixed it up with quality non-league opponents. I don't buy the strength of schedule argument, as VC's one loss was to a very solid, and successful Huntington group.

I watched the undefeated VC team play head-to-head with Chillicothe last year as well. VC is very good, period.

Discounting their accomplishments, and record, in my book, is just silly. I'll leave it there.

Breaking News.

Before a plant or animal species can receive protection under the Endangered Species Act, it must first be placed on the Federal list of endangered and threatened animals and plants. The listing program follows a strict legal process to determine whether to list a species, depending on the degree of threat it faces. An “endangered” species is one that is in danger of extinction throughout all or a significant portion of its range. A “threatened” species is one that is likely to become endangered in the foreseeable future. The Service also maintains a list of plant and animals native to the United States that are candidates or proposed for possible addition to the Federal list. It has been announced that the "Logical and Rational High School Internet Forum Poster" as been added to the Endangered List.

The TVC is one of the weakest leagues in the state. TVC teams traditionally are destroyed in the tournament. I'm glad we have Coach Combs. I'm just saying that as a whole are coaching staffs at VC are not very productive in the post season. Look at what happened to the girls team. It's just not basketball, it's all sports. Baseball and softball are one and done every year. The football team never showed-up when they made the playoffs a few years back.

We have enough talent in Vinton County to contend for state titles. What is holding us back?

I say it's coaching...

Its pretty apparent that you're a VC resident or parent with an axe to grind. You indicate that you're glad we have Combs, but state that coaching is holding us back.(Nice little, "read between the lines" comment).

Last time I checked, Combs and Girls Bball Coach, Jeremy Ward have pretty good records. Perhaps as a fan or parent, you should be a bit more supportive of our successful coaches and less inclined to focus on your own agenda.

Schedule does hurt VC. The TVC is a notch below some of the better leagues in the area and VC doesn't see all the challenges teams from the SEOAL see for example. Talent is one thing, and VC has that, but the talent also needs to be tested and overcome tough spots throughout a season. Everyone wants to win as many as they can, but there is something to be said about winning a close game against a good team or even losing by a few to a very good team and learning some of your weaker points to work on than blowing out crap teams by 40 and learning nothing. I know this is but the different gender but the Circleville girls schedule really got them ready for the tournament playing Kettering Alter, Miami Trace, Chillicothe, Vinton and their MSL schedule. You could see them improving after tough tests by Chilli, Logan Elm, Alter, etc.

I'm sure scheduling for VC isn't the easiest but you got to play six of the best non-leaguers you can with the strength of the TVC;
