I had time to ask and according to my mother, the apartments are NOT the original high school. They were part of what she refers to as the 'add-on' which was the elementary school. The first high school was connected to the third high school and then there was added on more building behind that with the original high school in between. Eventually the original high school was completely torn down. But what does she know. But I do believe that she is a little older than you BOO so maybe her memory is not what it used to be.

But she seems VERY sure of her information. But I will ask people I know from that era (Pug and Betty Miller and John Sherman) the next time I see them or ask some of my older aunts and uncles. They tend to remember those things pretty well too.
I thought the apartment building had a flat roof, like the 'add-on' rather than a peaked roof like the original building. ^^ Also the basic design of the windows does not look like the apartment building to me.
I too attended classes in that old elementary building but only for 1 year and I was only 3 at the time (head start) so my memory of the details are mostly just of the parts that I actually was in.
I do have very clear memories of Gary Heimbach doing student teaching with my Head Start class that year. A couple of years later when he got a job at the new elementary school, he drove one of my older sisters crazy by calling her by my name. She was only in sixth grade but she put her foot down. She said she would answer to her older sisters' names and she would even answer to her older brothers' names but it just wasn't right to be expected to answer to a younger sibling's name.
BOO--When would be a good time to copy that scrapbook. Then maybe I can answer football trivia questions! I have only researched 1935 so far for that sport and it does not answer your question.

I am free tonight and I have my own copier... I have basketball games on Thursday and Friday to attend but Saturday and Sunday afternoon are possibilities.

You can e-mail me directly at
drrabb@zoomnet.net. I am happy to pick up and bring back if one of those times is convient for you. If it is getting fragile, it is all the more critical to get a second copy made so if something (God forbid-fire, flood or tornadoes) should happen to the original, the information won't be entirely lost.
