Why would you ask a Washington County kid that got in major trouble at school and then did not have the grades to finish the season, to participate in a event that is a reward for your preformance for the year? Ability on the mat and in the classroom (which in the big picture is the most important) and at school needs, no must be used. Otherwise it shows that ethically the event and the purpose of the event has been cheapened and tarnished. Just my humble opinion. There is a right way and a wrong way of doing things and in this case, the message being sent is the wrong message. the message should have been: Do things the right way and you earn your reward. Instead it seems that the message is don't let anything get in the way of winning and this is at a honorable event. So Sad.

you sound a little sour "Auburntgrfan"? Imo Rohr is a good wrestler and even a better kid.
you need to quit dwelling on the past what ever he did in school im sure he paid for it. The event is over, now your jus trying the start stuff or put the kid down.

In no way am I puttin down the kid. He made a mistake and paid for it. You are correct. What you seem to not understand is the message being sent. If you make a mistake, you can still get the privledge of being honored on a for lack of better words in an "All-Star" event. Not sour just willing to point out that a event like this is to high-light young athletes that have went above and beyond the norm. And the problem with todays society we are willing to say Its ok, lets all be warm and fuzzy and feel good about ourselves. Guess I am old fashion is that respect. You earn, yes actually earn, accolades and honors both on the mat/field/court whatever and off. Not just have them handed to you because you can win. No doubt on the mat outstanding and that cannot be discounted. But it is more than on the mat accomplishments. Life lessons would be a good way of saying this. O.well you see it one way and thats fine. I see it another and you know what thats ok too. I will stand by this, no matter what in todays world I guess its ok to just do what ever makes you happy. Like many, maybe even you, I have screwed up in my life and had to face the consequences of my choices. If that meant missing out on something like this then I, had to man up and face it. Guess todays society does not have that in them any more and.... O.WOW,I just realized I am missing something, the young man was approached by someone to participate in this, so it is not an issue with/for him to be included. I will redirect this to those that initiated the above discourse. Well I'm rambling and this will be my last post or response, still sad to see things like this happen. You have a great day. I will apologize to you and the young man it in no way was anything he is responsible for, after all he is just a high school student. It was adults that took this course of action.
The_Big_One, sorry, to Rohr, sorry, I will drop the subject.
LIVE and LEARN, huh?

Even if you had to bump up a state Placer or qualifier I'm sure you would be putting together a better team than years past. I get tired of hearing how Wood county dominates every year. Last year Ohio State placers/Qualifiers beat the crap out of WV's at this meet. It would be nice to get all the areas best wrestlers so Ohio could prove whos the best.
Heres a lineup that would do very well against WV.
103- Jackson-Athens
112- Borders-Caldwell
119-McGlaughlin- NY
125- Reed-Waterford
130- Leitwein- NY
135- Hook-NY-Borders- Caldwell
140- Hook-NY
145-Hupp-Marr
152-Fill in
160-Fill in
171-Young- Athens-
189- Wiggers-Belpre
215-Gravely- Galia
Hvy- Keenner- Athens

Yeah, even back in the 80's I had a win as a frosh in H.S. against a Wirt County W.Va. State qualifier. I had 5 regular season losses as a frosh, and (sorry for excuses!) had the flu in the District Tournament so I lost against Fisher Catholic 7-3 in the 2nd round if I even remember it correctly.
Point being, Ohio could dominate if the top members are really in place. Not only do we have a population advantage, but a participation advantage.
Still luv ya Tric. I barely remember your face, but know you were a good lower wt. class a few years younger. Like what you are doin' @ Nelsonville!
OH, my edit: This caught my attn because I was in the USMC for 6 years. I'd like to help or watch. Let me know of any future happenings with this, PLEASE?
I'd appreciate it.
