UFC 91: COUTURE vs LESNAR

Post by Just_A_Fan »

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White today announced that after a year away from the game, UFC Heavyweight champion Randy "The Natural" Couture will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to defend his title against rising star Brock Lesnar in a clash of titans destined to shake the foundations of the sport. This championship bout, the biggest heavyweight title fight in years, will headline UFC 91: COUTURE vs. LESNAR, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008

Whats everyone's thought on this fight. Should be a great fight Lesnar keeps getting better and better and Couture is up there in age now. Lesnar can take anyone down beeing a former National Champ. I think Lesnar will win this fight in a decision.

when brock started in the UFC he told dana he wanted to fight the best. That he didnt want to fight what I would call easy win (witch in mma there really aint any). Brock is bigger, faster, and stronger but dont lake mma experince which only comes with time. They only way I really see Rany beating Brock is with a sumission, like Frank Mirr (not sure if its one or two "r") did. But if anyone watch the Mirr fight Brock was killing the guy (who is a former heavy champ) Mario called what i thought was a fast hit in the back of the head and took a point off, and stood the two back up.

If Mario does take the point off right there the fight would have ended really quickly.

If he didnt stop the fight and make them stand up it would have been a KO for Brock. I know Randy has been out for over a year, but he is still very dangerous. Brock on the other hand has a weak submission game. I think he gets overly aggressive which resulted in him getting caught by Mir.
Saying all that I think Brock wins this fight. I dont think Randy has fought a guy as strong and as aggressive as Brock. If he can take it to the ground Randy will have a better shot at winning, but if he decides to trade punches with Brock it will be a matter of time before he gets knocked out.

Seems like that was a point I made to my brother shortly after the fight. ;-) Never underestimate Couture, but I see Brock winning this one. This is most definitely a money fight for the UFC, although it shouldn't be for the Heavyweight title. Randy gave that title up when he walked away over a year ago.
