East got the win by around 12.....Was up around 25 or so and Clay chipped away to get within 7 at one point in the second half.

Now they get ready for St. Joe next saturday.

I too am not real impressed with Trainers coaching. I have seen a few of Clays games in the last two years and I can't understand why he pulls out a player as soon as he starts getting a hot hand and why he doesn't call a timeout when a team makes a a big run.

In a game I watched just last week a boy got hot and scored three straight buckets and seemed to have a hot hand, What does Trainer do? At the next dead ball he pulls the kid and he didn't see the floor the rest of the quarter. Just doesn't make sense. If a kid is hot and has confidence in putting up the shot then feed him the ball until he goes cold.

In two games I watched last year he let teams go on huge runs of 15 to 20 unanswered points and never called a TO to either calm down his team or try to quell the momentum of the other team. I seriously believe that if you had a coach like Tom Barrick coaching these kids they would win 12 or more games this season. With Trainer they will be lucky to win 5 to 8 games.

Like ignert said, the big boys he is playing consistently aren't scoring and don't do a very good job of rebounding, yet there is a kid setting on the bench that seems to do a great job of both in the JV games and he never sees the floor in varsity. I know there is a big difference in the level of play between JV and varsity, but at least give the kid a chance. If he's not going to at least try him, then why does he bring him to the varisty bench? Just what experience is he gaining by just sitting at the end of the varsity bench???

Since I was at the game I know what mental lapse U R talking about. It WAS a confusing 30 seconds. An East player actually blocked the first attempt then both players got a look of confusion then the basket was made.Clay's coach is quite an "animated"person.By the way your reference to the cheap shot was uncalled for.All players take the last second shot no matter what the score is and I am sure the player that released the ball was just as surprised an everyone he made it.He is not a 3 point shooter.Just a lucky toss.

claygrad wrote:Sorry NBS but I disagree. If the clock is running down to zero and the other team is walking off the floor, you hold the ball, throw it up in the air or roll it down the floor, but if you are coached well you don't throw up a shot. All players do not do this as you said. I see it in biddy ball and maybe in Jr High, but by HS you should have outgrown it.

I agree........classless move for varsity bball.

I have never heard Snuffy Smith speechless until the Saturday Morning Sports Show today. The Clay coach dissed his team for about two minutes on the radio. He said they were'nt ready to play, they had a bad week of practice etc. He even said it's really bad when a high school player doesn't know what basket to shoot at. (I think I agree , but I wouldn't say it on the radio).

Snuffy just kinda went numb then said "uh....any final thoughts?"
