I don't think anybody has caught up to SP as much as SP has came back to the pack!! Personally I look for Fairland to make some noise this yearend if I'm picking somewhat of a surprise team it would be River Valley!!!
My predictions
1 Fairland...seems to be improving every year!!!
2 River Valley.. Huge losses in Marcum and Hager but have several experienced players returning(if the all come back to play)
3 SP... Lost a lot. But cupboard not exactly bare...teams will be looking for revenge the last few years of beatings that they've handed out!!!
4 Chesapeake..another team that lost quite a bit but should have enough returning to be very good
5 Rock Hill... Another team that could surprise and jump way up in the league..lots coming back!!
6 Coal Grove..some nice players returning but were really down last year..I know coach Miller left but what has happened to this once very good program???

I would have to agree with ol blue as for sp losing alot of talented players which brings the ovc as a whole back to a competitive conference. As for seeing how the league all shakes out, I have a little different view though.

1. Fairland- They should be tops of the league, espically after getting the Stapleton kid somehow to come back to them from huntington st. joe, and with the Chandler kid and a few others. really solid b-ball team.
2. Coal Grove- This may surprise alot of people around the OVC, but after taking A LOT of butt whippings the past three yrs, they are poised to make a solid run in a much weaker conference. Still only two seniors on the team but they have around 5 juniors, 7 sophomores, and 7 freshman which allows for much improved practices and just all around help for the varsity. Still to be determined if they have anyone that can just light it up though.
3. Peake- A very solid team with a very good post play in Ruffner, and decent guards with probably Rice, and Heffner(if she plays) leading the way. With the loss of the Mayo kid they take a big hit in the scoring column. Again, like CG, Needing someone to step up and become the scorer for them.
4. South Point- They lost alot from last yr, and again I agree with ol blue that the cupboard is not bare at all. The Mitchell kid is a very strong, aggressive post player, but I'm just not convinced that their guard play will be enough to keep them at the top of the conference. However, the Dillow girl can shoot and possibly with Bacon, and I apologize that i can't remember the other guard that usually bulls her way to the basket they could very easily contend higher up in the conference.
5. River Valley- The only reason I feel that they may not be in the upper part of the conference this yr is that I just don't see an inside dominant player, unless the one girl that had to take last yr off due to back problems comes back, then they could very well be in the upper class of conference. Again, from what I saw last yr, guard play can be questionable at times, still a very solid team.
6. Rock Hill- Unless some players with high has came along, I just don't know if they can compete with the other teams in the conference that has that inside player. However, They did have some darn good looking guards with speed and decent shooters last yr. If their guards can carry the team then any team on a given night needs to be cautious with these Red Women.

Finally, I'd like to say that in my humble opinion. Basically the only team that I truly feel has a solid hold on a position would be Fairland. Everyone else will be fighting for second, and anyone of the other five teams have the talent to grab that second place spot, and with a little luck and hard work, could take over that top spot. Good Luck to all the OVC Girls Basketball Teams this yr and I want to thank you beforehand for all the entertaining b-ball games that we as Parents,Spectators, and True fans will enjoy.

Wouldn't count SP out. Heard they beat the Burg in every quarter of a scrimmage this evening. Got a new tall girl, every bit of 6 foot. Think it'll be between the dragons & the pointers. But, I'm going with the pointers!
1) sp
2) fairland
3) RV
4) Cpeake
5) CG
6) RH
