Hammer Throw/Triple Jump

Post by noreply66 »

Any chance on these becoming a league or conference event in the near future?

Triple Jump was in fact an event at the SEOAL meet several years back, and I thought there was a lot of success in it. As far as the hammer throw, there is no chance! Unless the OHSAA changes their policies in accordance with USATF, it is an extremely dangerous event. If this is an event that is implemented in the future, I would say that you will have to take a class to be able to teach it the right and safe way.

Don't really know why they dropped the 3J in the SEOAL....had heard teams wanted it out because of the lack of personal.
The hammer/weight is done in a lot of indoor meets and you will see it a few times outdoors. I would like to see another event added to the field events.
I would even love to see the triple jump and the shuttle relay added.

20 events sounds like a nice round number

20 events sounds great!! I really would like to see the triple jump back! The reason you see the weight throw indoors is because indoor track is not affiliated with the OHSAA. As far as hammer throw, you will rarely see that at a HS in this state, mostly at collegiate opens that high schoolers might go throw at.
