Warren at Portsmouth Friday 1/24

Post by warrior90 »

This will be for the SEOAL Title as Warren needs to win to even have a chance at it. Trojandave will this game be broadcasted on radio or internet?? Thoughts on the game??

Huge game for the Warriors. An opportunity for the boys in Blue to revenge a earlier loss to the Trojans. Look for Warren's guard play to be much improved this time around , especially on the defensive end. Will need a total team effort to upend a Portsmouth team that is playing as well as anyone in SEO. Good Luck Warriors ! GO BLUE !!!

Warren wasn't quite together yet for the first game so I look for Warren in a rather easy game.

In the first contest against Portsmouth this year I predicted the Warriors to win by ten, instead of a Trojans victory. This time around I believe my prediction of a ten point victory will be true. The Warriors are continuing to get better in all phases of the game each and every time out. Just like Warren, Portsmouth has gotten better as well and should be a good hard fought game. Taking the Warriors with something like 71-61.

Go Blue!!!

Not only are the Warriors improved, but so are the Trojans. We have won 8 straight games, including the championship of the KSA Classic in Florida and a lopsided win over previously undefeated Peebles. Coming into the season, Warren was the prohibitive favorite to win the SEOAL, and was returning their 3 star players from the 2013 Final 4 team. I felt the Trojans won the first game by outquicking the Warriors, and if Warren is going to win, they will have to deal with that again. Portsmouth has never swept the Warriors in SEOAL play, but are looking to avenge a Warren sweep of the Trojans last season. This is a weird series in that the road team has a winning record in the opposing gym the last 5 seasons.

I don't pick winners in any game, but I guarantee that Coach Collins will have his kids ready to play in a game that will decide at least a share of the SEOAL title. For Portsmouth and Warren, a win will be huge when it comes to sectional seedings.

Warrior90: The only radio that I know of that will broadcast the game will be Portsmouth's WNXT 1260 AM. I don't know about an internet broadcast.

Looking forward to talking to ex-coach78 before or after the game.

trojandave ... the Trojans are in the drivers seat going into this one Friday night ... EVEN with a loss to Warren PHS is assured at least a tie for the SEOAL title this season ... Warren is in a must win situation, a 2nd SEOAL loss has them looking up at the Trojans as SEOAL Champions ... with a win the Big Blue will share the title it would appear - is it guaranteed ? - nope BUT the odds are that neither Warren or Portsmouth will lose any league games vs Logan, Gallia or Jackson ... WITH A WIN Friday vs Warren your Trojans have a legitimate claim to at least the #2 or #3 spot on the Elite 8 listing ... Logan Elm plays a very good Circleville team Friday night so who knows what scenarios a loss by the Braves to the Roundtown boys would add to the basketball landscape in SEO ...

... I KNEW Portsmouth had talent coming into this season trojandave BUT I have to be honest that I thought they were a year away from being contenders for the top 1,2,3,4 spots on the Elite 8 rankings ... you KNOW I was trying to convince Ky're Allison ALL summer long that he would look great in a Purple & White uniform but noooooooooo the tradition of Trojans past is too strong LOL ...

pfloyd: I agree with your statement about Warren being in a must win situation.......as I said earlier, they were the prohibitive favorites to win the SEOAL coming into the season, with a Final 4 experienced team........the Trojans being a distant second. Your assessment of PHS being a year away was pretty much the consensus in Portsmouth, which makes this season so much fun.

Pfloyd, goodluck finding anything Warren related in the Marietta times. The only time they usually have anything about Warren is when the play at home even when the game was almost a straight shot up 77.

... just did the Massey Ratings for this game ...

IF the game was played at Warren:

Warren 63
Portsmouth 56

If the game is played on a neutral court :

Warren 62
Portsmouth 56

IF, as it is tomorrow night, it is played at Portsmouth:

Warren 62
Porstmouth 57

... no Ouija Board involved in those outcomes ... I'm sure the Massey ratings are very scientific - using the Magic 8 Ball I'm sure - so take it for what it's worth ... it will be a GREAT game tomorrow night in the Land of Trojandave and his Trojans ...

LOL biggdowgg ... wish I could get down to see this one tonight ... it will be a classic matchup though whether pfloyd is in the stands or not LOL ... from what I read about the first matchup was that Warren struggled with the Portsmouth "quickness" ... usually when a person describes a team as being "quick" they are talking foot speed ... when I watched the championship game in FL vs Liberty Christian I came away with a feeling of the Portsmouth "hand speed/quickness" EVERY TIME the ball came down to waist level their was a Trojan hand in their to contend with ... on the perimeter, in the paint the Trojans have VERY ACTIVE hands, they disrupt an opposing teams flow at both ends of the floor - you get a rebound - their are hands contesting it, you pick up your dribble there are hands contesting , shots - hands in your face , tugging on your jersey ... the Trojans wear you down physically and mentally in the course of 32 minutes ... any mistakes turn into transition buckets - hmmmmmmmmm reminds me of a certain team up the river in I'town the last 4 years LOL ... hoping I can get the game online while I'm watching the Logan Elm vs Circleville game tonight ...

... biggdowgg as I said earlier I'm thinking the Massey people use that Magic 8 Ball technology - so unpredictable is that thing - I'm sticking with the Ouija Board LOL

you are right, this team has some pretty quick hands and can play sme intense defense the coaches has done a great job with this group ...I was expecting good things next year and a few lumps this year, but am very pleased with what I have seen..have to be honest after the south point loss I was not expecting what Ive seen after that game, but getting the big win AT warren has been huge and I told Dave after the warren game that it should be a huge confidence boost..and it was...hoping to see another great game between these two teams tonight, a whiole lot of respect for warrens team and coaches. maybe see you at wellston tomorrow ?
